Debunking Star Wars

It’s  a cold miserable sort of day in Auckland and I’m getting over a weird sore throat/cold thing and I REALLY need to finish my most recent edit of this damn book of mine, so I decided to put on Star Wars, Episode IV: A New hope as a recent episode of How I Met Your Mother reminded me that it’s been way too long since I’d watched it. (and according to Marshall in that episode, if you don’t watch the Trilogy at least once every three years the dark side wins)

Now anyone who has ever been vaguely interested in Star Wars would be aware that George Lucas won’t leave well enough alone and keeps tinkering with the Movies in various ways.  In the late 90’s/early 2000’s the Star Wars prequels, which is generally considered to have been a great idea that was poorly executed.  As part of this we learnt that all storm troopers are Temuera Morrison. So when Luke Skywalker dressed as a storm trooper goes to rescue Princess Leia and she says ‘Aren’t you a little short to be a storm trooper?’ I thought, you know I don’t think Temuera Morrison is that tall.

Thanks to one of the best websites ever imdb, I checked, sure enough Temuera Morrison is only 5’7 while Mark Hamil is 5’9.  So yet another way that George Lucas has ruined his own franchise.

On a completely different note, I just googled procrastinators anonymous and I’ve moved up from being on page 6 of the search to page 4, so yay! I have no idea how these things work but it has to be a good thing!
